The Irresistible Revolution

Wow.  What a great book.  I just finished reading it today, and it seemed to take me forever to get through- not because it was an incredibly challenging read, but because I so often had to stop, think, and process what he was saying.  So much of his writing hit home, turned on light bulbs, or re-affirmed previous beliefs (or at least cleared them up to a large degree or put into writing what I couldn't sort out or explain in my head).  I honestly don't know what to write for this blog; it would either be a huge essay on what he's already talked about (in which case you should just read the book [to quote him] because its much better) or a bunch of writing that (honestly) I really would rather not share with the entire class (sorry ya'll).  However, I am really looking foward to the discussion of this book and hearing what the rest of ya'll think.  In addition, I checked the back of the book about who friends of the Simple Way who were recieving money from the book sales and one of them is here in Minneapolis (called Solomon's Porch) - it would be interesting to check out...

Summer...

Hello hello hello!

Terribly sorry it took me so long to post this summer - it's been quite busy, but that really isn't an excuse.  Glad to hear everyone so far has had a good summer, and I'm looking foward to meeting all the new students!

I have started reading the book, and I really, really, really like it.  But, Schuler wanted a post awhile back with what our summer has been like, so I thought my first post should be a quick catch-up and then I'll post again after I finish book (hopefully by Tuesday).

It was wonderful to have May off from school and work (since I worked at two different daycamps and they didn't start till June) - so I spent a lot of time with family and helped around yard and house.  Work went well; good kids and co-workers, although I must say I wasn't so fond of the many 6 am shifts (and I thought Honors was early...).  Other than work, I made a few trips to good ole Wisconsin and tried to get some relaxation time in (yeah Harry Potter) - balance, such a tricky tricky thing.  So yeah, some work some play, pretty much it, nothing really that exciting...

More later on book...
