Day 1 in Hippos

Today was our first full day in Hippos. It was exciting to see the site that Dr. Schuler raves about in all of his classes. It was amazing to see the detail that was in the stones and walls of the Northeast Church. I am so excited to start digging and uncover more history and religion that still lies buried under the dirt.

We also did a little touring see a couple Roman-Byzantine churches some partially reconstructed and some fully restored. It is amazing to be in the Holy Land and see some of the places where Jesus walked, talked, and carried out his ministry. I really enjoyed the reading of the Bible passages that correlated to the sites that we were seeing. I am looking forward to the first day of digging and hands-on learning.
