Well, I'm still waiting to hear back from some different agencies, but it's starting to look a lot more promising now! Right now, I'm looking at 4 places...
1. Mobile Dental Clinic
Oh my gosh I want this one to work out!!!!!!! This is most definitley my top choice. I'm working with Dr. Bakke and some other lady to hopefully get this opportunity up and running. If I got this one, I would be going around to different schools in the metro and assisting in dental check-ups for kids who qualify. Since it's a free clinic, I'm actually allowed to get some hands on work here! This would seriously be a PERFECT opportunity. Unfortunately, it's Thursday, our contracts were due Monday and I still haven't personally gotten in contact with anyone there.
2. The Bridge for Youth
This is my second choice, and right now is looking a lot more promising. I've been emailing back and fourth with the volunteer coordinator there and will hopefully have at least a meeting set up the next time she contacts me. I'm not sure exactly what I'd be doing there. They have a 'Wellness Coach' position listed online. For this one, I would just help the youth at their Transitional housing with staying healthy/eating healthy/ stress management etc. This one sounds kind of like a build-your-own position. I'm interested to see how this one pans out.
3. Commonbond Communities
This one sounds like an OK choice for me. I would probably be a tutor or lead one of their teen groups. I sent in an online application and am waiting for a response. This one is basically just a buffer incase the first two don't work.
4. Our Mission Gospel Church
This one is a buffer as well. I have made contact with a lady there, and all I need to do is email her back and I have a position. It would work for the project, but it's not really a top choice of mine. I've learned throughout this process that you can't have too many backups though, so it' still on the list.
As fun as panicking over how I'm gonna manage finding a project and getting the hours all in on time is... I would LOVE to have a project for sure set up by Monday. We'll see how that goes! Wish me luck!
