SO, in the fashion of this project, I finally have somewhere to volunteer but it's nowhere I originally thought I would be! I never ended up hearing from the Mobile Dental Clinic and you had to be over 21 to do anything interesting at The Bridge, so there went my first two choices! In a final attempt to find a place to volunteer I checked handsontwincities.com for about the millionth time and found this place called Tronix Team. So, anyone trying I went and checked them out last week and it is SO COOL!! It sounds like with this place I'll be going to school and teaching kids various science projects (Heart rate monitor, boombox-lunchbox etc.), working in their workshop and possibly helping with their tutor center. By my next post I should have a full schedule set out and hopefully some hours logged!
Since the school visits are only 3 hours on average, and I'm needing an average of 8.5 hours right now, I decided to find a back-up place incase I need some extra hours. So, depending on how my schedule works with Tronix Team, I may be working at the Skyline Tower right across 94 helping with their homework center. I figured this would be a good way to mix up my hours while still keeping them on the same social issue of education. On one hand I am SO excited to get this all started, but on the other I'm already stressing on how this is going to fit in my already busy schedule... wish me luck!
