Wow! To say that the past few weeks have been busy would be an EXTREME understatement! Between writing papers, studying for exams/finals, work and volunteering at Tronix, I have been a busy girl! Now that I have a chance to breathe, I'll update y'all on my project...
I loooooove my project! On Tuesdays I help in the workshop catching up projects and whatnot, and then I tutor this cute little girl named Lanaya. Obviously, working with Lanaya is my favorite part of Tuesdays :) She is SO smart, it blows my mind! The past few Wednesdays, I've been going to Jefferson Community School in Minneapolis to help with the Boom-box Lunchbox project. Sadly, today is the last day for their session. New sessions are starting up soon though, so I assume I'm just going to find one that fits my schedule and help out there now. When I was volunteering yesterday, Mark (my supervisor) asked me if I'd like to run a session in the next couple months! OF COURSE I said yes!! I love helping the kids make their projects! Even though 5th-8th graders working with hot glue guns, and soldering irons is more than a bit nerve-wrecking, it's a lot of fun! The only other day I'm working right now is Fridays. They're a pretty easy (and sometimes a little boring) end to the week. On Fridays I normally just do data entry or work in the workshop if anything needs done.
Since I'll be around over break, I'm going to continue bringing in hours. I might help out with an extra session during the week (or I might just take the time to relax!) but I'm not sure yet. Overall, Tronix is going really well!
