Well today was a very exciting day for us in D5!!! As you have probably seen already, and read in the main blog and in Jakes, we found a few significant things today in our square.
First Jake found a small bowl-like thing made out of Basalt...It was probably used for grinding stuff. About 15 mintues later, Jake found another basalt bowl/plate-like thing. We really aren't sure was it was used for, because the top was shallow and sqaure....probably something to put incense in...and that makes sense because then in the last 5 minutes of digging today, Darryl found a bronze incense shovel. It was sooo cool!
Yesterday, we cam across a small water trough. We know it was used for water because it had plaster on it.

This is me brushing off the water trough
So these are all of our finds. The small bowl at the bottom, and incense shovel to the right, the square basalt piece at the top and the trough to the left. All on top of our Roman(?) Era floor. :)
Speaking of our Roman (?) Era floor, here is a documented picture of it.
It's pretty cool!!!
Here is a close up of the incense shovel...
I know these pictures have been posted in Other people's blogs, but I still have to share the excitement too. :)
Jim Gimbel got stung by a scorpion 3 times after it crawled up his pants this morning. He's doing fine by the way. I tried to find a picture, but looking at all the pictures on Google gave me the creeps, and I had to move on with my blogging
And finally, I have to say, I have had an amazing time here, and I can't believe we are going to be starting our last and final week here! It's crazy! I also have to say, you don't find many people who pay $4,000 to go dig in dirt for 7 hours a day and occasionally find stuff. These people are amazing, and I dont think I will quite find people like them very often. They are all special and will do (or have done) great things in their lives. I love this group picture

Alrighty...It's time for bed. We head off to Jerusalem tomorrow for the day!!! I am very excited about it! I will post a blog about that later.
Oh and speaking of more amazing finds, some of the Israeli team found in a bath house by the southern wall 5 dice and 30+coins. They stopped counting at 30. It's pretty cool the things we are finding now!!
Enjoy
