I apologize for the lack-of blogging....With the Blog server being down for a bit and our weekend trip to Jordan, I haven't been able to....It's also hard without having my own camera, I have to mooch pictures from other people. It takes some time to get those as well. But alas, I am able to again!
First of all, we said farewell to the lovely group of Canadians this morning. I'm going to miss them, they were really funny and hard workers. Their presence on the dig site will be missed.

Along with Thursday being the Canadians last dig, I managed to smash my right ring finger under a large piece of Basalt...Of course, I was on the verge of passing out, so they caught a few pictures of me on the ground.

We took a trip to Jordan this weekend, which was A LOT of fun! We went to Mount Nebo, Jaresh, Amman and Petra. You might recognize the treasury in Petra from a scene in Indiana Jones and the last crusade...
Petra is pretty amazing. I hiked a total of 15 miles...about 5 of those were climbing up and down stairs. We got a good workout!!
Just to show you how big some of these columns are, Liz and I tried hugging one..
When we went to Jaresh, Sami, our Tour guide, showed us some of the intelligent architecture of the Ancient Romans by showing a completely in tact column, and how they all survived the earthquake. They were built in sections, so that they were able to move with the earth...Shock absorbers...Same thing you see in architecture today. There was a spoon placed near the bottom and he pushed on the column and we could actually see the column sway, and the spoon move up and down...It was really cool!

that's all for now...Again sorry all the delays!
Enjoy

Hi Steph,
We are reading and looking at your blog. It looks hot and dusty! In Nebraska its hot, and humid, but green. We keep you in our prayers--always. Love, Grammy
I hope that ring finger is ok!!!
