Alright so this coming Monday will be my first day at PLUS Time. I am a little nervous about how everything is going to turn out. I however am very excited about getting going and seeing how much improvement the kids make during the time that I am with them, and the relationships that I will build with each child. The last time I spoke with Dr. Pickel we had discussed having me create activities for the kids on personal spending/dealing with money, and create dance lesson plans. I will update next week on how my first day went!

Well I met with Professor Rock yesterday, and I told her that I had been emailing Dr. Pickel from PLUS Time. I am hoping to meet with Dr. Pickel sometime after break to see if PLUS Time will be a good fit for me. The only major concern I have is that I am not going to be able to spend enough time volunteering. Since I am a commuter student, I teach at a dance studio, and work 30 hours a week. My time is very limited. So that is going to be a challenge for me. Professor Rock and I also talked about putting my passion of dance to a good use. So when I meet with Dr. Pickel next week I am going to suggest if it was possible if I could teach like a 30 min dance class to the kids. I know PLUS Time is mostly focused on lowering the achievement gap in Reading, Math, and Science, but physical activity is also important for kids as well. So I am going to see what Dr. Pickel has to say about whether or not it is a good idea. Also Professor Rock is going to ask around to see if there are any organizations that need dance volunteers. Since I have had no luck finding any. I will keep you posted on how everything works out!
