My initial impression of this book was interesting. Just reading the author's note and forward kinda set my off balance for awhile. The book didn't seem like one that would be very intriguing. I thought that this would probably be a long boring read. However as i got more into the book i found it very appealing and relating to many things in there. Some of it was a bit too much for a conservative Lutheran such as myself. However the good majority of it i enjoyed and agreed with. I believe that the idea of the Christian life has been lost according to what the bible describes. We need to be on fire for God and Jesus all the time. Not just when it suits us or around the Church crowd. Also his thoughts on the church really struck home with me. I have been feeling that way towards my church for quite some time now. To hear someone else say the same things is both a relief and gives me some ideas on what i can do. All in all my initial impression of the book was quite good. Some things were not what i would have done but the vast majority of it was excellent.
